Barley is a roughly 5-year-old pit bull mix who is a staff and volunteer favorite, and once you meet him, it’s easy to see why.Barley is pure joy wrapped in a blocky head and a constantly wagging tail. He loves treats, adores gentle affection, and has a way of leaning into you that makes you feel like the most important person in the world. His spirit is happy, goofy, and full of life—and he greets each day with enthusiasm and gratitude.While Barley does have a visual impairment, it doesn’t slow his zest for life. He thrives in calm, predictable environments and navigates best with kind people who give him a little guidance and reassurance. He has done well with other dogs who are respectful of his space and not overly pushy. His experience with cats is unknown, so slow, thoughtful introductions would be needed.Barley is currently undergoing heartworm treatment, which includes medication and injections to help him fully recover. Our team will guide his adopter through the process every step of the way.
