A soulful three-and-a-half-year-old Border Collie/Rottweiler mix currently in Colorado Springs, CO, whose calm, loving heart is wrapped in a stunning 70-pound merle coat. With the gentle spirit of a wise old friend and the quiet loyalty of a true companion, Jasper is the kind of dog who will melt into your side on a cozy evening and follow you room to room just to be close.
Jasper thrives in peaceful surroundings and forms deep, meaningful bonds with his people. He does well around children and enjoys their company, but he would do best with calm or older kids who understand boundaries and know how to treat him gently. Loud or high-energy play can make him uneasy, so a respectful home environment will help him feel safe and content. He’s a mellow guy who doesn’t need much to be happy: a soft spot to relax, the comforting presence of his caregiver, and maybe a treat puzzle or two to keep his brain engaged. Food-motivated and clever, Jasper knows a delightful list of commands like sit, stay, paw, spin, and even “middle”, a trick that’s as cute as it sounds!

After being involved in two traumatic incidents with unfamiliar dogs, one when he was a puppy and another more recently, Jasper has developed a strong reactivity to dogs he doesn't know. That said, he’s done well with familiar dogs in controlled settings, showing that he can feel safe with the right structure and trust.
