Meet nala

Meet Nala!Nala was surrendered to us by her family and is a very sweet, social gal who prefers to take things at her own pace. She can be a bit shy in new environments and is finding the shelter overwhelming, but in one-on-one time outside she's a big cuddle bug. Slow, gentle introductions help her feel safe and build trust. My Ideal HomeNala will do best in a calm, low-traffic home with patient adopters who understand sensitive dogs. A predictable routine, gentle handling, and gradual desensitization to new people and places will help her flourish. Someone with experience working with fearful or anxious dogs is ideal, and a household that can manage access to high-value items and work on confidence-building exercises will set her up for success. She also likes having a safe space-she's crate trained and often prefers her crate.Good with Kids?No (recommended no children under 13). While Nala has been friendly around children in her previous home, she is sensitive to handling and can startle; calmer older children who understand gentle interactions would be better for her.Good with Other Pets?Nala has lived with other dogs and is tolerant of familiar canine companions. She can be shy around unfamiliar dogs on leash and prefers to approach on her own terms, but has shown tolerance off-leash. No experience with cats has been reported, so introductions should be done cautiously.Leash MannersNala shows mild to moderate pulling on leash and can be nervous in the kennel environment. She would benefit from continued loose-leash practice, short, calm walks, and positive-reinforcement training to build confidence outdoors.Overall HealthHealthy overall. Nala is spayed and microchipped. She has been a little stressed by shelter life, so a quiet, steady home will help her settle in.Behavior DeterminationLevel 3 - Recommended for experienced, patient adopters. Nala can be fearful of loud noises and handling in some situations, shows resource guarding around food and toys, and has shown signs of separation anxiety. With consistent, positive training, management around high-value items, and gradual desensitization, she can become a confident, affectionate companion.Other Fun FactsNala is a true couch potato who loves to be where her person is. She's crate trained and often prefers her crate, can comfortably rest there for long periods, and knows cues like sit, down, and paw. Primary Color: Tan Weight: 72.5 Age: 6yrs 2mths 3wks
