Meet Scarlet — a petite girl with a big heart who’s already proven she knows how to survive, thrive, and still choose joy.

Scarlet’s early story wasn’t kind. She was once chained outside, left to figure life out on her own as a young mother while caring for her puppies. On top of that, she battled her way through heartworm.  But what’s remarkable about Scarlet isn’t what happened to her—it’s what she’s become despite it: a dog who greets the world with gusto, makes friends everywhere she goes, and loves so openly you can’t help but feel chosen.  If it wasn't for the visible scar down her back, someone might never have expected that she came from such a challenging origin story.  Now, wherever Scarlet goes, she carries a visible reminder that you’re looking at strength and resilience personified.

What she’s looking for


A snuggle bug - she'd love to share a pillow at bedtime
A human who doesn’t mind being kissed often and thoroughly
Someone who will let her look deep into their eyes with that “you’re my whole world” kind of love—because Scarlet means it


Her personality (pure sunshine)

Scarlet is goofy, expressive, and endlessly entertaining—whole-body tail wags, hilarious faces, enthusiasm for squeaky toys, and a “let’s go!” attitude for every outing. Big group of people? Even better. She doesn’t really have a shy side; she’s the kind of dog who walks into a room like she belongs there… because she’s ready to belong to you.

She can be a little "full on" at times but she's also extremely responsive to corrections and commands. She aims to please and is the kind of girl who believes in second chances—and she’ll make you believe in them, too.

Favorite things

Car rides, sunsets, errands in town, dinner with friends, couch snuggles and Netflix, naps—and yes, she’ll absolutely hike or join any adventure you want. She’s happy to match your pace as long as she gets to be part of your life.

The “important to know” stuff

Scarlet can be selective with larger male dogs but her nurturing side shines for puppies and plays with kids like they’re her own. She’s fully vaccinated, spayed, microchipped—and as a heartworm survivor, she’s already fought through something hard and come out the other side ready for her next chapter.

And she’s not just lovable—she’s prepared: house trained, doggie-door trained, crate trained, and has basic obedience (sit and down). She loves treats, positive reinforcement, and would enjoy continuing training with her person.  Based on what we know, she has not yet met cats.

Scarlet is fostered in Colorado Springs and is eagerly waiting for the one thing she’s always deserved: a safe home, a soft pillow, and a human she can love with her whole heart.
