Meet Tuxie!

A bright and affectionate almost five-year-old German Shepherd/Terrier mix currently living in Huntington Beach, CA, whose glossy black coat and snow-white accents are as striking as her personality is unforgettable.

Tuxie is the kind of pup who’s all heart. Devoted, cuddly, and absolutely convinced that the best place in the world is right next to you! Whether she’s lounging on the couch with her head gently resting on your lap or keeping an eye on the neighborhood with her polite watchdog skills, Tuxie brings calm, companionship, and loyalty to every moment. She’s a graceful walker on leash, well-mannered, and knows commands like “sit,” “down,” “stay,” “come,” “crate,” and even “go to sleep.” Yes, she’s that smart, and she learns new things in a flash!

While she can be playful and downright silly, especially when it comes to chasing her ball or running through the sprinkler, Tuxie is happiest in a quiet home where she can shine as the one and only pup. She does well with dogs in structured group settings, but she’s made it clear she prefers not to share her family space with other canines. She has shown aggression toward her canine housemate in the past and during one incident she bit the other dog and accidentally bit her caregiver when they attempted to intervene. For this reason, Tuxie must be placed in a dog-free home with adults only, as her caregivers feel a quieter environment will keep her most comfortable.

Tuxie has Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency (EPI), a condition that simply means she needs a powdered enzyme supplement with each meal. It's a small step, just 1.5 teaspoons stirred into her food, that makes a world of difference for her. She's also fully recovered from ACL surgery and a corrective procedure, and she shows no signs of discomfort or limitations in her playful, active lifestyle.

House-trained, crate-trained, vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed, Tuxie is ready to step into a home where she can be the center of attention, soaking up love and returning it tenfold. Her perfect day? Morning cuddles, a sunny walk, some silly sprinkler time, a good nap, and a cozy evening next to her favorite human.
