We will not respond to emails that ask questions already in the bio of the pet or generic questions of 'how old is it?', 'can I get more information?', 'oh it's so cute', etc. You must fill out an application in order to schedule an appointment. Please be aware we do not hold dogs until an appointment to meet them is scheduled.     Sweetest girl ever!  Approximate DOB 5/25/2025 – she is about 8 lbs Taffy along with her siblings Toffee and Tootsie were part of a large hoarding case(Chihuahuas, Miniature Pinscher, Dachshunds, and Toy Fox Terriers). Their mom was a tiny Chihuahua about 6 lbs . These babies are very outgoing, sweet, and playful.  Crate trained and uses a dog door like a champ. Adopter would need to make sure she knows where the dog door is and the rules of the new home. Taffy looks more like a Miniature Pinscher than a Chihuahua with beautiful long legs and a graceful jog. She is very outgoing, playful, and very sweet. She should have a very active family that can help her burn off all that energy. She is the tallest in this litter. She loves toys and is very treat motivated. She has been raised with children, dogs, and cats in the foster home and loves everyone she meets. She is an absolute gem who will make a wonderful addition to any family wanting a sweet little girl that can keep up with them. She does like to jump up into laps - anyone's lap with no warning. She loves laps, loves toys, and loves attention. She is a very active girl who just loves life.   Spayed/neutered, microchipped, and current on all vaccinations - Fee $275 We do welcome out-of-state adoptions. Adopters would need to be able to come out to meet/adopt the pet.  Send an email to request the application or you can download it from the main site www.almosthomenm.org and email it to adopt@almosthomenm.org Dogs are seen by appointment only after an application has been submitted and approved. If you have other dogs it is recommended you bring them out to the meeting but not required. If you are not ready to adopt (vacation/travel planned and don't want to put your new pet in boarding, in the middle of a move, etc) please wait to schedule an appointment until you are ready.  Steps for adoption: Read bio, email to request application or download it from the main website, fill it out completely and email it back, once approved you will receive an email asking you when you would like to come out to meet the pet, schedule an appointment, directions will be emailed or text to you. Adoption fees are cash only.   If you would like to help with rescue by providing monetary support for vetting, snacks, and toys for the dogs in our program while they wait for their happily ever afters we would truly appreciate it.
