Meet widow bandit

Widow Bandit is a handsome, unique, and incredibly loving 3-year-old boy, weighing in at a perfect 65–75 lbs. He's a dog with a massive heart, but his sensitive soul makes the shelter environment his absolute worst enemy.

The Real Bandit: You'll need to look past the fearful boy you might encounter in a kennel. Bandit has extreme shelter anxiety—he paces, cries, and completely falls apart. This distress, combined with a bit of stranger danger when confined, makes it incredibly hard for potential adopters to meet the sweet, goofy dog he truly is.

In a home, he is a totally different dog! He transforms into a relaxed, affectionate companion who thrives on comfort and companionship. Bandit has made incredible progress in foster care, and our mission is to keep him moving forward and out of the stressful shelter environment for good.

Bandit's Best Qualities
Boxer Energy & Affection: Bandit is a true lover! He has big "boxer energy," which means he uses his paws, nose-nudges you for love, and is always seeking to be near his people—he thinks he's a tiny lap dog.

Unique Communicator: He's very vocal in the cutest way! He's talkative, not barky, and will happily "woo-woo" and grumble his opinions to you.

House Manners: He is perfectly housebroken and walks nicely on leash (still polishing his manners, but he's already a good walking partner).

The Best of Both Worlds: This smart guy is the perfect blend of adventure buddy and couch potato. He'll go for a great outing with you, then settle right down for a snuggle. He also rides great in the car and makes an excellent kitchen floor cleaner (he's a pro at food patrol!).

Trainable & Smart: Bandit is food-motivated and already knows sit and down. He's currently working on wait, crawl, and leave it, ready to learn more with his new family. He also loves tug toys!

Who is His Perfect Match?
We haven't been able to test Bandit with kids, cats, or other dogs yet, so a home ready to introduce him slowly and safely would be ideal. He would absolutely thrive with an active person or family—especially those who love to get outside and keep his smart mind engaged. A calm, patient home where he can be the focus of attention will help this boy continue to shine!

If you're looking for a goofy, loving, and vocal co-pilot who is ready to dedicate his life to you, Widow Bandit is waiting to ditch the shelter and become your loyal companion.
