Meet Millie – A Shy Soul with a Heart Ready to Bloom

Millie has come a long way from the field she once called home.

Found last summer with her siblings, living under a car in the heat, Millie (formerly Nillie) was the most shut down of the group. She flinched at every movement, avoided touch, and kept the world at a safe distance. But through months of patient fostering, she’s learning that love can be safe—and that life has so much more to offer than survival.

Today, Millie is still a gentle, quiet soul, but she’s showing us more and more of who she truly is: sweet, loyal, silly in her own quiet way. She’ll follow her foster dogs like a shadow, curling up beside them or trailing behind them on quiet walks through the yard. She puts herself in her crate when she senses her human is leaving and waits patiently for their return. She snorts when she’s happy. She snores like a tiny piglet when she naps. And she lights up at mealtime like it’s the best part of her day.

Millie still has some work to do—she’s learning potty training, figuring out how to walk confidently on leash, and still startles with sudden changes—but what she needs most is another dog by her side. She blossoms around confident, kind dogs who show her what it means to be safe, loved, and at ease.

Her ideal home is calm and quiet, with a fenced yard and a dog buddy who can be her guide. She’d do best with adults or older children who understand that trust takes time. But once she gives it to you—once she chooses you—you’ll have a devoted companion who wants nothing more than to be near.

Millie doesn’t need much. Just patience. Kindness. And someone who sees her not for where she’s been, but for how far she’s come—and how much love she still has to give.

If you have space in your heart and home, and a dog who might just be Millie’s new best friend, apply to foster or adopt today. Let’s help this beautiful girl write her next chapter.

Adoption is $275, which includes spay/neuter at our vet, vaccines, dewormer, microchip, and clean bill of health. Although we work to potty train all of our dogs, we cannot guarantee full house training before adoption. Regression is a normal part of transitioning to a new home.
