Meet onyx
Onyx is goofy, lovable 16 months old Lab mix 45 pounds!
Toys are Onyx’s love language! Whether it’s fetch, tug-of-war, or a good game of keep-away, he’s all in. His focus during playtime is beyond impressive, more like a hawk honing in on its prey. The only thing that is as valuable as a tennis ball, is kibble!
He’s especially hilarious when playing with other dogs. Though he’s a big boy, he’s incredibly submissive and will dramatically retreat from puppies half his size.
Onyx didn’t have the easiest start to life. He was born and kept in a basement, and when he was rescued at 4 months old, he weighed just 24 pounds, severely malnourished and shut off from the world. Despite this, he’s a total lovebug and is friendly with everyone he meets—dogs and humans alike.
He can, at times, be reactive on walks but his foster is working with him on approaching people and dogs without barking. It's more of excitement than anything else. There's not an aggressive bone in his body :). Consistent leash training, positive exposure and love is all he needs to learn the outside world isn't scary.
Onyx is a joyful, loving boy who’s eager to find a home where he can continue to grow, play, and soak up all the love he missed early on. If you’re ready for fun, laughs, and lots of tail wags, Onyx might just be your perfect match.
He is crate trained and can be trusted roaming free in the house.
