Meet beanie

Meet Beanie!

A tender-hearted eight-year-old Black Mouth Cur currently living in Seattle, WA, whose soft brown coat with black and white accents wraps around a loyal spirit and a big, loving heart.

Beanie is a big girl with an even bigger heart—she tips the scales around 65 pounds, but what she truly carries most is her love for people. Whether it’s a quiet evening snuggled up beside her human or a quick tug-of-war session (her absolute favorite game!), Beanie thrives on closeness and affection. She’s got a gentle, soulful presence that makes you feel like she’s listening to every word you say, and her eyes light up at the sight of her favorite people or a crunchy snack!

Beanie is house-trained, crate-trained, and quite content being left alone while her person is out and about. She enjoys a steady, calm routine—just one daily 30-minute walk, a couple of bathroom breaks, and she’s set. While she knows a few basics like “sit,” “wait,” “off,” and “down,” what she’s really mastered is the art of being your quiet, comforting shadow.

Beanie’s story includes a challenging chapter that shaped her current needs. She was raised alongside another female dog of the same breed, and for many years they got along just fine. But two years ago, the pair had a fight and after that the dogs had to be kept separated. Multiple professional reintroduction attempts were made without success, and the stress of the situation began to wear on Beanie. As her anxiety grew, she had a warning nip with a child during a particularly tense moment, though she continued to live peacefully with children before and after. This moment, however, was a clear sign that Beanie needed a different environment—one where she could truly relax.

Since transitioning to her current foster home, Beanie has blossomed! She’s shown herself to be incredibly sweet, gentle, and eager to bond with people. That said, Beanie is not compatible with other animals and will need to be the only pet in her new home. She is reactive to other dogs and will growl or lunge when she sees them, but she’s highly food-motivated and responds well to redirection. Walks during quieter hours have helped tremendously in keeping her calm and focused.

Beanie is looking for a new peaceful, loving home with a committed guardian who can give her the attention and consistency she needs.

Could you be the one to share your life—and your tug rope—with Beanie?
