Meet star

“A dog will teach you unconditional love." This reminds us of Star, who has so much love to give her new family.

Why we love her: When your name is Star, you are very special, and this sweet dog is perfectly named. She is two years old and weighs 41 pounds. Star has such an exuberant personality and truly lives each day to the fullest. She is a joyful presence who brightens our days!

One of our volunteers says: "Star's doggy grin is just the best!"

Star is a loyal walking companion who absolutely loves being close by your side to explore the trails on our beautiful shelter grounds. She is so curious and interested in her surroundings. Once she is done, Star is ready to hang out with you to enjoy the day and lots of pets and quality cuddle time. She is so congenial and good natured.

Star loves to run and play in the fenced yard, and we enjoy watching her have such a good time. She bounds about in total joy and is so agile and athletic. Star loves the toys and will go to the toy box to pick out the ones she wants to play with.

Star loves treats and waits patiently to be rewarded with one.

She especially enjoys having lunch with our animal control officers in their office.

Star is very social and loves adventures and outings with some of our dedicated volunteers.

One volunteer says: “Star was amazing. She walks like a dream on her leash and basically ignored everyone as they walked past. She was my passenger princess and wanted to make sure I was taking her somewhere fun.”

Another volunteer reports: "Star spent the morning exploring two state pocket parks, Hidden Lake and Newsom Mill. She loved all the new sniffs the most and found the riverside fascinating. Star had a very happy morning, enjoyed the car ride, and is just such good company that we always look forward to roaming with her."

A third volunteer shares: "Star came to our house this afternoon. She was an absolute blast to have as a guest. Star was well behaved in the house, interested in everything but respectful, didn't beg while we ate lunch, and is so much fun. She took walks by the creek and in the woods, she played happily with her chew toy on the rug, she got hugs and kisses on the divan, and she never stopped smiling."

Star had another special outing: Star spent last night at our house and she was a wonderful dog to have in the house. She loves inspecting shopping bags so I made her one of her own. I wrapped a bunch of chew toys individually in packing paper and put a treat in each one. At first Star just snuffled around in the bag and looked at me like she knew she wasn't supposed to take anything. I convinced her it was okay and she got one toy out. Star demolished it in about an hour, then went and took one more, played with it for awhile, got another. This went on all evening and Star had the happiest time. Next morning she enjoyed looking sporty in a warm coat while she walked in the woods. She is house broken, slept quietly all night in a crate and snuggled a lot in the evening."

Star spent several days with a foster during a recent winter storm: "She was the sweetest dog throughout the entire visit. She is completely house broken, sleeps well in a kennel, snuggles a lot, loves to play with chew toys, and is a darling companion. It was so cold out that we let her sleep in the bed; she loved it and was a sound sleeper. We took her to the playyard when we got to CCAC and she was exuberant, finally free to run and play. I hope she gets adopted to a house with a fenced yard. She also really enjoyed meeting the neighbors who were kind enough to let us walk through their yard everyday. She is a very social girl with humans, she was bouncing up and down when she was reunited with the CCAC staff."

Star would do best as the only dog in her new home and the fun, loyalty and devotion are guaranteed!

Star is a bright dog who should master any commands you wish to teach her.

If you want to adopt a medium sized companion, come and meet this special dog. She really IS a star and such a happy dog!
