Meet Penny, a super sweet 2-3 year old spayed female hound/cur mix, weighing about 38 lbs! Penny was sadly abandoned in the Great Smoky Mountains, TN with her young puppies. The local humane society took in the puppies, but not Penny We took this mama into rescue and transported her to New England, where she has been waiting for a while now to find her furever home. 

Penny is a friendly girl who gets along well with people and older children 8+ (as she may unintentionally knock over a small child). She does have some prey drive, so no feline friends or small critters for mama Penny. She does well with other dogs her size or larger (after a proper intro), and she loves to romp around and play with her doggo friends! Penny can do a 1 week foster to adopt trial with an approved adopter so you can see how she settles in before committing to adoption.

"Penny is such a sweet girl that just wants to hang with her human. Her favorite spot is the couch or bed. She’s great with the majority of dogs but is not thrilled with tiny dogs. I’ve never heard a peep out of her except a whine or two when it’s close to breakfast or dinner. She’d be great as an apartment or house dog since she seems content to quietly hang till you get back."

Adoption fees vary based on the dog and are not negotiable. As a small rescue that does not receive government funding or grants, we rely on adoption fees to stay afloat. Adoption fees help cover the following: vaccinations, wellness exams, heartworm/4DX testing, parasite prevention, spay/neuter (age-appropriate), microchipping, transport expenses, and other rescue-related overhead/administrative costs. Paws Rescue League, Inc is an all-inclusive rescue that does NOT only rescue puppies and young, healthy dogs.  We make a point to also rescue seniors, dogs with special needs, moms, and other “less desirable” dogs, knowing that we will likely incur higher veterinary expenses and that these dogs may take longer to get adopted.  As such, an individual adoption fee is not only reimbursing PRL for expenses directly related to that dog, but it is also helping us to continue our mission of taking in dogs that would otherwise be too much of a financial burden to save. We believe that ALL dogs deserve a second chance. Thank you for your support and understanding!
