Meet Fredbird, a resilient and lovable 4-year-old pup who’s been through more than any dog should—but is still full of heart and goofy charm. Found as a stray with a gunshot wound and some minor injuries, Fredbird has made an incredible physical recovery and is now looking for a fresh start with someone who can help him heal emotionally too. The stress of shelter life is starting to wear on him, but this smart boy is making progress every day.
Fredbird is a quick learner and has been working hard with his handlers on redirecting his leash frustration by trading it for a rope toy or treat—and he’s really catching on! He’s an energetic goofball who lives for tug-of-war and proudly parades around with his face rope toy. One of the cutest things about Fredbird? His unbelievable ears—the tips touch when they’re both upright and it’s truly a sight to behold. He’s also been loving the herding ball, which has helped bring out even more playfulness and curiosity.
At 59 pounds and packed with personality, Fredbird is ready to meet someone who sees past the tough start and recognizes the incredible companion he’s becoming. He’s clever, handsome, and has so much love to give—he just needs a patient and caring person to show him the way.
As one of our LifeSaver dogs, his adoption fee is waived. He will be sent home with a bag of goodies to not only set him up for success in his new home, but help him thrive. Our training team will also be available to help with transitioning into a home or any issues that may arise.
