He came to BARCS through no fault of his own, and once in foster care, he settled in immediately. Max arrived already housebroken and crate trained, and he’s proven himself to be an easy, happy houseguest who thrives on routine, companionship, and play.In his foster home, Max did wonderfully when left alone. He walks into his crate on his own each morning when his foster leaves for work and relaxes comfortably while waiting for them to return. He’s also mastered polite mealtime manners—sitting patiently and waiting for his food before eating. At home, Max loves staying close to his people, often following his foster from room to room. One of his most endearing habits is poking his head into the shower just to make sure his person didn’t disappear—he’s truly a loyal shadow with a soft, affectionate heart.Max has high energy and a playful spirit, and he loves activities like tug-of-war, fetch, and romping around the yard. He’s a big fan of ropes and balls and is always ready to play. He also does great with other dogs and enjoys wrestling and playing tug with the resident dog, Rousey—they’re constant playmates and clearly enjoy each other’s company. Max is a playful boy, he does best with female friends and may need to meet any potential doggie roommates to make sure they are a good match.On leash, Max walks nicely and is generally well-mannered, though he does have a healthy interest in squirrels and is still working on not barking when they dart through the yard. He’s done great meeting new people, including extended family during the holidays, and showed polite, appropriate behavior in busy environments like downtown Annapolis and outings to Petco. He enjoys being out and about with his person and takes new experiences in stride.Overall, Aslan (Max) is a loving, energetic, loyal companion who bonds deeply with his people and brings joy wherever he goes. He’s affectionate, dog-friendly, crate trained, housebroken, and eager to be part of everyday life.
