flirt

East Montpelier, VT

Meet flirt

Flirt first came to us when his family`s household had significant changes, and they could no longer adequately care for a young, active dog. He spent a couple months with us fine-tuning his adolescent manners, and was adopted into a wonderful home. After three weeks with that busy family, we`ve all agreed that Flirt is just too rambunctious to be around young kids, who he thinks are just dogs he can play with. Flirt seeks a knowledgeable adopter who can help him develop skills to burn energy and his teenage dog behaviors that can be overwhelming for a first-time dog owner. This people-loving, dog-loving, really smart boy won their hearts for all the reasons we love him too. He will keep you on your toes; he loves to play outside in our yards, or go on trail walks. He has fun with toys, and will laugh in your face for a good game of keep-away. He`s very food motivated, and enjoys puzzle toys, as well as every training session learning new things. Sniffy walks are a favorite pastime, and he enjoys a good snuggle too. To help him and his new owner work on training when they are not actively going for walks or hikes, a fenced in yard is a must for this busy boy.Flirt has done well playing with other dogs here, and seems to prefer a wrestling kind of playstyle. Since his playstyle can be overwhelming for many dogs that he has meant, he seeks a home that can be dedicated to just Flirt, with potentially friends to go hiking and walking with occasionally. Based on the behavior we`ve seen from him when he sees small animals on walks, he cannot go and live with any cats. Until Flirt slows down a bit, and learns some body awareness, kids would probably prefer not to live with him, but active adults will fall in love with their new best friend!Do you have lots of energy to meet Flirts energy level? This busy boy really needs a human with sports dog mode to help him get his needs meant in his next home. An adopter who works from home or limited hours would be fantastic so he could get on a good daily routine as Flirt is working on crate training and is a very active dog.A 5-week Good Manners training course is included in Flirt`s $350.00 adoption fee. Please call the Adoption Center at 802-476-3811, or email info@centralvermonthumane.org, to schedule a time to talk to an adoption counselor about him, and to determine if you should meet Flirt.
