Chester is a gentle, cautious soul who’s still learning that meeting new people is as scary as he thinks and it may take him some time to feel safe — but once you’re in his circle, you’ll see just how sweet, silly, and endearing he really is.
Chester has a few favorite things in life: soft, squeaky stuffy toys (the more, the better!) and splashing around in a cool creek after a long walk. Chester is a tri-pawd but that doesn’t slow him down! Watching him trot through the water or proudly parade around with his favorite toy is a great reminder of how joyful and playful he truly is underneath his shy exterior.
One thing Chester doesn't love? Cars. He finds them pretty stressful, so he’s hoping for an adopter who understands his dislike of the things with wheels after being hit by a car — instead think trails, creeks, and toy-filled backyards rather than road trips. Chester would do best as the only pet or with a tolerant, playful female dog who matches his vibe.
Chester would thrive in a quiet, patient home with people who are willing to move at his pace and help him build confidence slowly and gently but what he really needs most is someone who sees past his fear and into the sweet, loving heart inside.
