Oscar, a small Shih Tzu mix with a distinctive underbite, carries a tale that's almost as unique as his appearance. At roughly 7 years old, Oscar isn't just any ordinary dog; This guy is like a cat with 9 lives! Formerly abandoned and left to fend for himself on the streets of Memphis, this guy found his happy ever after with a family in Nashville! When his family had an unexpected move to China, he was subsequently re-homed. Sadly, he didn't enjoy his new home and he kept wandering (running) away when he was put outside. Thankfully, on one adventure after evading authorities, a kind woman picked him up, scanned his chip and contacted us where we learned the whole story! With his keen intelligence and charmingly crooked smile, has been affectionately re-named Oscar the Grouch and we think he is perfect to get his new life started.

Now far removed from his past endeavors, Oscar seeks a peaceful life. He's a character full of contradictions: despite his tough background, he's affectionate, playful, and incredibly loyal to those he trusts. He enjoys the simple pleasures of life, like sunbathing on a cozy afternoon, the joy of a good belly rub, and the thrill of chasing after squeaky toys.

This stunning middle aged boy would thrive best with an adopter who appreciates his unique history and respects his journey from the shadows of his past and is ready to experience his bright and bubbly personality. A patient individual or family, possibly with a soft spot for underdogs with criminal pasts, would be ideal.

Oscar may do best with minimal pets as he tends to get overwhelmed (especially by those bigger than he). We have also learned he likes cats a bit too much (if you know what I mean). He would also enjoy his person to be there most of the time to keep him on the straightened path so as not to lead him back to a life on the streets.
