Meet Penelope, a sweet 11-month-old toy Poodle with a heart full of potential! This lovely girl found herself in search of a forever home after being surrendered by her previous owner, who went to great lengths to bring her from a large-scale breeder in Missouri to Michigan. While Penelope has her AKC paperwork, her journey hasn’t been easy. She spent the majority of her young life in a cage, which means she is still learning how to be a beloved family pet.

Penelope is a bit under-socialized, having only recently felt the tickle of grass on her paws and the warmth of sunshine on her face. As she adjusts to her new life, she needs a secured yard where she can safely explore and play, as leash walking is an experience she’s yet to embrace.

This timid girl can be shy around new faces and would bond best with a single person, preferably a female, as she tends to be fearful of men. Older children or a home without children would create a more comfortable atmosphere for her to flourish. Penelope gets along well with other dogs but prefers to be your one and only, as she isn’t fond of sharing attention.

Penelope has a big heart and loves to curl up in your lap. She craves companionship and wants to stay close to her people. While she’s working on perfecting her house manners, please be patient, as house training wasn't prioritized in her previous environment. She is also working on crate training, but due to her history, she may need some extra time and positive reinforcement to overcome any negative associations.

This precious girl will require regular grooming to keep her coat looking beautiful. What she truly seeks is a loving home where she can be spoiled and showered with a lifetime of love and attention. She is a young pup with a long life ahead of her and wants someone that will love her every step of the way.
