Meet Athos
My name is Athos and I’m looking for my forever home. I’m a shy, sweet boy and a toy hoarder! I especially like rope toys that I can chew on. I’m still a puppy – I’ll be 1 y.o. in September – and I currently weigh 19 lbs. I came to my foster home in Chicago from the commercial breeding facility where I was born. I was so scared at first, because living with humans in a home is new to me, but I’m learning that I like it! My foster mom is so nice and she gives me scritches and treats! Cheese is my favorite. There are other dogs here and I like them and am respectful around them. I haven’t met any cats or other small pets, but foster mom doesn’t think I’d be a good match, since I do have that Shiba Inu prey drive and might chase them. I enjoy playing outside in the fenced yard here and stealing toys inside. I’m learning how to go for walks on a leash! I’m still a bit skittish and cautious exploring new places, but foster mom has been sticking to quieter streets and that helps. Foster mom says I’m a smart boy because I know how to tell her when I need to go potty. I am still pretty scared at first when I meet new people. Slow, gradual introductions work best for me. My ideal forever home would be a calmer, quiet home with no little kids. They’d scare me too much! I’ll need a securely fenced yard and another friendly resident dog who can show me the ropes and help me build my confidence. If you have experience with shy dogs, that would be super! But as long as you’re patient and let me adapt at my pace, that’ll be fine. I’m a healthy boy – neutered and vaccinated.
