Sandy v. Dog Trainer Bio

I started learning to train dogs in 2009. I would assist the puppy raisers that trained the puppies for Leader Dogs for the Blind organization. I didn’t pursue training full-time until 2019 when I was laid off from my corporate job. From there, I volunteered at a local animal shelter that offered dog training during Covid. We had weekly zoom classes with the shelter’s on-staff behaviorist, Dr. Salis. Once restrictions were loosened, we began hands-on training/working with the shelter dogs. For the people that adopted a dog, we offered 6-week training classes and I moved to being an assistant dog trainer for those classes. I continually learn through on-line courses, seminars, podcasts, books, and memberships to keep up with the most up-to-date news and techniques.
