Trainer Bio

Hello, I’m Jessica! I am an AKC-certified instructor who is passionate about teaching dogs and their humans how to have a happier life together. I hope that you will consider me to help meet all of your dog training goals! Here is a little bit about me and my training philosophy to help you decide if we are a good training match. Like all trainers at Dog Academy, I follow positive reinforcement based training methods. I believe that the vast majority of dogs wish to please their handlers, and many problems with training can occur from simple breakdowns in communication. This is where I step in with my extensive knowledge of canine behavior and body language to help you understand why your dog might be displaying certain “misbehaviors” and how we can redirect them, or I can aid you in teaching your dog new skills by learning to clearly communicate to him “in his own language” what it is that you want him to do. I believe that training always works best and really sticks when the dog is making a conscious choice to perform a behavior under his own free will. There are many motivators we can use to get there, and I also believe each dog should be treated as the individual they are. When it comes to dog training, we are all learning together!I specialize in basic and more advanced obedience, home manners, new puppy training, and socialization. My goal is for you to have the most well-rounded canine companion possible. My professional background in dog training started in 2021 with earning certification and then 8 months of experience as the lead dog trainer at Petco in Conway, Arkansas. Following that, I trained dogs at a dog daycare and boarding facility in Maumelle for a year. I am currently working at a different dog daycare, so I get to be really hands-on with dogs and always teaching, but I am very excited to have some one-on-one training time with pet parents again! I hope to meet you and your pup soon!
