Trainer Bio
Erin Bierwirth, CTC, CPDT, CCFTErin is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT) and a graduate of the Academy for Dog Trainers where she studied under Jean Donaldson and earned the Certificate in Training and Counseling (CTC). There, she she received an in depth academic education in animal behavior, ethology, learning theory and psychology. At the Academy she was able to apply her classwork to training several of the SPCA shelter dogs and was exposed to a wide variety of breeds and temperaments. Always eager to expand her education and skill set to better serve more dogs, Erin went on to become a Certified Canine Fitness Trainer (CCFT), a distinction from the University of Tennessee. These services are especially important for performance dogs, overweight dogs and aging dogs that need to stay fit. Erin also has extensive experience and passion for service dogs of all kinds. She is a volunteer puppy raiser for Canine Companions for the blind and has helped many others train their own service dogs with a primary focus on Psychiatric Service Dogs. Erin’s training and coaching includes positive, reward-based, humane methods that ensure dogs love learning. She focuses on instilling good habits in each dog so they can be cherished family companions who have self-control and good manners, using gentle methods to get strong results. Erin is equally positive in helping her human clients understand and master the techniques needed to change their dog’s behavior. When Erin is not training dogs she can be found riding her horse or pursuing her other passion, Therapeutic Horseback Riding.
