Hello! My name is Alexa Avila, and I am a 20-year-old veterinary technician student at Pima. I own three dogs which I enjoy walking, grooming, and training. My training methods encompass positive reinforcement, enrichment toys, and various puzzle toys. I am deeply passionate about animals and dedicated to teaching them expected behaviors without harming the bond we share. I believe positive reinforcement is the most effective method as it helps the dog understand expectations without damaging the trainer-animal relationship. It’s important to acknowledge that there will be moments when taking a break is necessary, and that’s perfectly fine. There will be times when stepping back is essential, as either you or the dog may become overstimulated. Remember to always prioritize your safety and that of the dog’s.
