Trainer Bio
Hello, I am Ian!I grew up in a rural town and have interacted with animals my entire life. Throughout my life I have had mutliple pets, including snakes, turles, and raccoons. But I have had family dogs my entire life as well as my own animals upon adulthood. Getting my undergraduate degree in psychology allowed for me to be a research assistant for Illinois State University’s Canine Psychology Lab where I helped conduct research experiments and collect data, and I also was involved in the partnership with a local animal shelter in order to help train and socialize shelter dogs in preperation for adoption. I have also been a dogsitter professionally with multiple repeating clients. The proof is in the dogs, they tend to love me and are often excited to see their favorite dogsitter!I enjoy being around dogs and love to see the progress they make as they age and how we can shape their behavior through training. I believe in positive reenforcement, meaning no punishment in my training methods. I think dogs are smart enough to learn almost anything with enough positive reenforcement. (treats are common, but offering a toy or affection may also work)I would love to meet you, your pup(s), and get to know what training goals we can work towards together.
