Meet Nibs!<\/p>\n
This 8 week old border collie puppy comes from a litter of 8, with an incredible, perseverant backstory.<\/p>\n
Their mother, Wendy, is a sweet, gentle 30 lb border collie who spent months tied to a tree in someone\u2019s backyard, where she unsurprisingly fell pregnant.<\/p>\n
When the puppies were just a few weeks old (not even old enough to be weaned), this litter was cruelly separated from their mother and kept in a cardboard box, outside in the cold. Neighbors were feeding them and alerted animal control, who did not take action.<\/p>\n
The concerned neighbors feeding them alerted us when temperatures were dropping to under 30\u00b0F. We immediately stepped in, saving these puppies (and their mama) from the cold.<\/p>\n
Days later, while in foster care, we noticed disturbing changes in mama and rushed her to the ER: She had been rat poisoned and nearly lost her life. She has since made a full recovery, $6,000 and several blood and plasma transfusions later. Fortunately none of the puppies ever fell ill.<\/p>\n
Nibs is the second half of the rambunctious \u201ctwins\u201d; he seems to be the most cognitively developed of the litter and is ready to be out of the pen\u2026 which he has sorted out how to climb out of. He and Tootles have strong herding instincts and care to know\/round up the litter. Nibs loves to pounce and play. But he equally loves to cuddle and kiss. He\u2019s very vocal and communicative about what he wants. A pup with a lot of wonderful personality who will do best in a house with lots to stimulate him.<\/p>\n
**Everyone in the litter has been heavily socialized with adults and kids, an extra large dog, and a playful cat. They thrived amongst all of this. They also all exhibit herding instincts.**<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
